Entrepreneurship
Joel's journey of entrepreneurial success began as a college student when his summer break startup, a business which recruited youths for college and university marketing, generated a revenue of RM1 million during its first year of operations. He then went on to build the award winning NGO Youth Malaysia, where its team ran massive projects such as YOUTH'08, YOUTH'09, The 1st and 2nd National Youth Entrepreneur Convention as well as the Merdeka programme Gegar U! Colours of Our Nation – impacting more than half a million youths nationwide. Within a year, YouthMalaysia.com bagged the AYA Dream Malaysia Youth Friendly Company of the Year 2007.

Television
At age 23, Joel joined Malaysia’s first corporate reality show The Firm, screened nationwide on NTV7 in 2007. In The Firm, candidates have to compete in a series of tasks dealing with different disciplines in business that is imperative to the success of a corporate high-flier. Maintaining passion as the main driving force, he eventually emerged as the winner despite being the youngest contestant, exceeding the expectations of many – proving to the nation that being young is not a deterrent to large scale success.

College
During his undergraduate years, Joel’s willpower to grow and seek excellence earned him the winning title for the annual Warman Student Design-and-Build Competition, subsequently earning him entry at the competition’s national finals which was held at Powerhouse Museum, Sydney. He represented his campus and competed in this highly sought after competition alongside students from many prestigious universities all over Australia. Ensuing this distinctive achievement, the scholarship holder – who believes that one should not just stay on top, but to constantly work towards getting better – drove himself to produce nothing but unprecedented results and graduated with honours in his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering degree.

Fashion
Joel first appeared in the local fashion scene at the age of 20. During his years as a model, he has walked for acclaimed local fashion designers as well as global fashion brands such as Guess, Esprit, Adidas, Nike, Quiksilver and Levi's. He has also shot for numerous esteemed apparel brands for fashion magazines.
Joining Levi's 501 Manhunt was the touchstone of Joel's perseverance in facing tough situations. Despite having burnt himself in the course of training for the event, his winning attitude got him through the competition, where he emerged as the winner. -
Sports
In year 2003, Joel was part of the national youth rock climbing team where he represented Malaysia in the Asian Youth Climbing Championships. Later that year, Joel bagged the gold medal for both Men’s Individual Open and Team Event for the National Rock Climbing Competition 2004. As passion for the sport grew, Joel established a rock climbing society within his university in 2004, currently known as MonRockz. To date, Joel has scaled walls all over Malaysia as well as Thailand, Singapore and Australia.

School
Apart from being a part of the national youth rock climbing team, Joel has been a sport enthusiast ever since his legs could run. As the school's squash club president and house captain, Joel represented his state, Selangor in squash and was a school representative in other sporting activities including athletics, basketball, volleyball and handball.
